David Stern

At its March 26, 2024, meeting, the Highland Beach Town Commission adopted Resolution No. 2024-004, declaring each unopposed candidate elected to office. Vice Mayor David Stern ran unopposed and was elected to the Office of Vice Mayor-Commission for a three-year term ending in March 2027.

Previously, on March 24, 2023, the Highland Beach Town Commission appointed David Stern to serve as Vice Mayor-Commissioner until the March 2024 General Election.   

Vice Mayor Stern and his wife, Judy, have been residents of Highland Beach since 2000 and reside at Highlands Place Condominium. They have two married sons and five grandchildren.

Since moving to Highland Beach, Vice Mayor Stern has been actively involved in Town government and community service. He served on a special committee that reviewed the Town's water plant finances and later served on the Town Charter Review Board. He has chaired the Code Enforcement Board, the Board of Adjustment and Appeals, and the Financial Advisory Board. In addition to his Town service, Vice Mayor Stern serves as President of Highlands Place Condominium and has held leadership positions with his congregation, where he currently serves as Co-Treasurer. He also serves as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Vice Mayor Stern graduated from college and, following service in the United States Army, began a successful career in retail management. Over the years, he advanced to several senior executive leadership positions within the retail industry before retiring.

An avid golfer, Vice Mayor Stern enjoys playing several times each week and appreciates the opportunity to spend time outdoors with friends and neighbors.
