David Stern

On March 24, 2023, Highland Beach Town Commission appointed David Stern to the office of Vice Mayor-Commissioner until the March 2024, general regular election

Vice Mayor David and his wife Judy have lived in Highland Beach at the Highlands Place condominium since 2000. They have two married sons and five grandchildren.

David has been active in the Town since he moved here. He was on a special Committee reviewing the water plant finances in 2005 and a member of the Town Charter Review Board in 2012. He has been chairman of the Code Enforcement Board, Board of Adjustment and Appeals, and is currently chairman of the Financial Advisory Board.

In addition to his Town activities, he is President of the Highlands Place condominium and was President of Temple Sinai in Delray Beach where he is currently Co-Treasurer. He is also an Arbitrator for FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).

David graduated from Pace College in New York, and after US Army service began a career in retailing, rising to Senior Vice President of stores. In 1988 he and his wife came to Florida, and he went to work for J Byron’s as Executive Vice President. David’s last job before retiring was with Ross stores in California where he was Vice President of Store Communications and Store Planning.

David plays Golf three times a week in Delray and says it is not his strong suit, but he enjoys it.

He is excited about the opportunity to serve on the Board.
